Everything You Need to Know About GrandMedical Smithfield.

The Administrative team at GrandMedical Smithfield strives to provide all necessary information transparently, ensuring a smooth and convenient experience for patients. Here you will find answers to common questions about services, fees, booking process, operating hours, and more.
Consulting rooms are open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am – 3.00 pm. Consulting rooms are closed on Sundays and Public holidays.
You can book appointments with your health practitioner through the online booking system or by calling Reception. Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend booking in advance to minimise waiting times.

Home visits are available to our regular patients on an individual basis via negotiation with their regular Doctor. 

 

However, we do offer Telehealth consulations via the phone for patients who are unable to attend the Surgery.

 

After hours home visits can be arranged by calling  the National Home Doctor on 13 SICK (7425).

The Health Practitioners at GrandMedical Smithfield offer bulk billing and private billing services.

The Health Practitioners offer bulk billing services to:
  • Children 15 years of age or younger
  • HealthCare Card & Concession Card Holders
  • Telehealth consults for children 15 years of age or younger, health care and Concession card holders who have consulted us within the last 12 months
 

Billing Policy

The following fees will apply to patients no longer eligible for bulk billing. Patients will be required to pay the FULL AMOUNT on the day of consultation (payments via credit or debit card only). We will process your Medicare claim instantaneously and the Medicare rebate will be refunded to your account, typically within 24 hours.

*All Care Plans, Health Assessments and Mental Health Care Plans will continue to be BULK BILLED* Some medical procedures will incur a gap fee. Please speak with our reception staff or your GP. All non-Medicare rebatable services including pre-employment medicals, insurance paperwork will incur a private fee.

What can’t you claim through Medicare

Certain services can not be claimed through Medicare and will incur a private fee. These services include:

  • Insurance reports
  • Insurance medicals
  • Commercial/heavy vehicle licences
  • Pre-employment medicals

Please check with our reception staff regarding these fees.

Allied health providers

Allied Health Providers may charge a fee. With a GP Care Plan referral from your doctor you may be entitled to a rebate. Please check with reception staff for further information.

GPs predominantly work in privately owned and operated practices. There are many costs involved in operating a clinic including staff wages, rent and medical equipment, which continue to increase year on year.

 

Despite the increasing costs of delivering medical services, the Australian Government has not increased the Medicare rebate enough to support your ongoing healthcare.

 

The graph below shows the difference between the rising costs of living (the top line) and the amount the government invests in your healthcare (bottom line). You will notice that these lines are moving further apart. This is why your GP is now charging a fee.

 

If you have an emergency please telephone 000 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

 

If you require a home visit after hours please call National Home Doctor on 13 SICK (7425). These visits are generally bulk billed.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours to avoid a cancellation fee.
Prescription and referral requests generally require an appointment with your doctor. In some cases, this process can be managed over the phone. Please contact us for further information.
